Computer Programming Re-Boot Camp

For a few months I will be a taking a slight pause from GIMP and will not be doing any major projects with photo manipulation. During this time I will be focusing on my initial passions: C# (C Sharp) programming and web developement using the .NET Framework. (Actually C# would be my mistress because it did web development before C# but whatever...) In my spare time I may post an occasional logo, banner, mock advertisement, or a small project from the use GIMP. After I feel as though my programming and web developement skills are post worthy I will be posting links to download my created content and applications.

In refining my skills I will be able to balance the work I do with GIMP & computer programming at the same time. The result reflect in this blog; instead of a number of GIMP projects posted in a row you will be able to see diverse spectrum of post displaying my array of skills.

I also have plans to change the look of my blog around ...so be on the look out for that as well.

GIMP

All of the images that are created by me and are posted to this site are all created with GIMP. GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. A lot of people are familiar with Adobe's Photoshop; so much so that they use the noun as a verb..."Don't worry about that pimple I will Photoshop it out..." GIMP would be the fraternal twin of Photoshop, the interface it pretty similar and a lot of the same things can be done in both. The main difference however is that GIMP is $FREE.99...that's right it is an absolutely free program. You can simply go to google and search "GIMP" and click on the first link ...or.... Just Click Here

Additional Info on GIMP

It can be confusing looking at the acronym of GIMP because it is an acronym inside of another acronym. The "G" which stands for GNU an OS which functioned similar to Unix, first launched in 1984. GNU actually has a double meaning, Gnu (pronounced g-noo) is an actual word or should I say an animal. . To the right is the OS's logo, the Gnu, which is basically a wilder beast. The second meaning of the word (G.N.U.) is actually a recursive acronym which stands for GNU not Unix...a simple way to let people know: "It may have a similar feel to UNIX, but guess what...ITS NOT!"

Just a little something extra for those who were curious.
If you use GIMP comment with a link of something you have worked on

A Shotgun Bat !?!

I know this site is about photo manipulations and etc...but I wanted to post something a little more realistic for you all. I am not usually one for guns but I thought this was pretty cool.

Domestic Armed Forces (police, SWAT, etc.) are always coming up with ideas to make there jobs as tactical but safe as possible for all involved. In a SWAT or Riot Police situation there is a lot of close combat. Research and experience shows that of course a shotgun would best the weapon suitable for these conditions. However; the shotgun is a lethal method of solving the problem. With the combination of engineers, research, and U.S. Armed Forces they have come up with a new weapon code named: I2ISB.(No idea what that stands for.) But all in all it is a freakin' bat with a shotgun attached to it!

I thought that it was hilarious when I first laid eyes on it, but thinking about it it made sense. After the blunt force of a bat, Armed Forces have a ready shotgun in hand. Initially two weapons in one, with a crafty, durable, yet simple design. The prototypes are being used in the fields in areas of Texas, California, and Florida to name a few states. A finalized version of the weapon is planned to be released in late 2012.

I dont care how touch you think you are, if you get hit with a bat followed up but a shotgun in your face...you are bounded stop whatever it is you are doing.

Hollow Hooded

I'm pretty new when it comes to manipulating photos and things of that nature as you all should know. So far is my favorite creation. Now, I must say I cannot take full credit for this idea. I saw a picture similar to this on another website; however, the emptiness inside of the hood was not as detailed...I saw it, liked it, and improved it.
